inside.com goes live. Inside.com is the latest attempt to have people pay for non-porn, non-financial information on the web. The site is currently in "Sneak Preview" mode and is the brainchild of Kurt Anderson (of Spy Magazine fame).

This actually is financial information, of a type-it's an entertainment industry magazine. If it proves valuable, I'm sure many companies will pay for subscriptions for the appropriate employees, just as they pay to subscribe to print trade magazines. The fact that they're offering a trial subscription will only help.

Heh. The last time SPY resurfaced (Joe Queenan, I think, running it), I was enticed to buy a subscription for FOREVER, it must have been 5 years. For some reason I took it (it was, like, 20 cents an issue or something), and when SPY finally bit the dust, it became a sub to P.O.V. (a lesser-known men's magazine). When that folded, it became a sub to GQ, which perplexed me when it arrived because I would never have gotten GQ on my own. It finally runs out in July, according to my label ...
