It's like finding out your grandpa's old Doobie Brothers album was where he actually stashed his doobies. Sometimes the old cats are hipper than you imagine.

On the incongruous celebrity avocations tip, this reminds me that last week I learned (I think via the Jordan, Jesse Go! podcast) that Laraine Newman loves EDM and still attends several raves each year.

Now I want to see a Michael Caine mix of Nu-NRG bangers entitled "Blows The Bloody Doors Off".

He never mentioned this in the two autobiographies I read! Man has been holding out.

This is definitely better than Christopher Lee's prog-metal album!

In the 2007 thread, Hogshead pointed out that Caine used to room with John Barry—"the man knows chill-out." I followed up on that. Turns out Caine might have been the first person to hear the Goldfinger theme.

I was hoping Chicane was on here. Glad to see it was the first track.

Outside of the harder techno this is all my jam from the late 90s to the mid 00s. I didn't discover Eva Cassidy until youtube came around (nor did anyone else), I think she would have found some fame in the internet age if she hadn't tragically passed.

In his new book, he talks a fair bit about his passion for making mix tapes. It's pretty awesome.
