"You can trace [graphic novelist Lucy] Knisley's career on her left arm. First there's a tattoo of a book blazoned with the ISBN number of her first graphic memoir, French Milk (2008). Then there's a crisscrossed fork and spoon commemorating her food memoir, Relish: My Life in the Kitchen (2013). Next, she wants to add a suitcase for her pair of 2014 travelogues, An Age of License and Displacement, which received a staggered release from Fantagraphics in September and February.
(Not sure what she's done for the several books she's published since this article.)

I started designing the wings on the backs of my arms after my Tarot deck got published, and finished the design and got it inked onto me while working on my first graphic novel. I haven’t felt the urge to get one specifically commemorating that book though.
