She's the Best.

"And it’s all laughing at ourselves. Not just others, but ourselves. Just behavior that human beings can’t help. We are ridiculous and great and lovely and sweet and innocent and scary."

O'Hara is doing some of the best work of her career right now on Schitt's Creek, and it has a great part to do with this approach. Everyone is ridiculous and great and lovely and all these things she speaks of, and it makes for great comedy with very touching moments. This week's episode where (general spoiler) David's boyfriend comes out to his family, where there's no negative conflict but only very human characters and moments, was totally ridiculous and sweet and innocent and it's all such a bright light of optimism amidst all these dark times, that there may be hope for us yet.

O'Hara is one of these actors that I squeal with delight when I don't expect to see her. She's a goddamn Canadian-born treasure.

'Schitt's Creek' to end after Season 6

No worries, they shall be with us always.

I still prefer to live in a universe where Dame Catherine has been properly recognized.

I was afraid I would lean on being a bitchy wife [with Moira] because I often did that. When in doubt, I played either insane or bitchy at Second City Theater. And I didn’t want to do that with Eugene, and I’m so happy either of us didn’t go the way of not loving each other. I think we’re a great loving couple in this.

I love this so much, and of course she is absolutely right. It would have been so so easy to make Moira and Johnny not be in love. What a gem she is.

I love Catherine O’Hara so much, but I especially love her in OTT outfits à la Delia Deetz from Beetlejuice. Moira Rose’s clothes are fantastic.

Rock Steady, that was my favorite bit of the interview as well, along with her kind words for the other cast members of SCTV. It's an inspiring read.

She once told a very funny story about a prank her dad played on her sister. I've been trying to find a clip of it. Anyone know it?

Catherine aka Lola Heatherton, I want to Beaaaaar. Youuuuuuur. Chiiiiiiild! Aaaaa ha ha!

She also taught me that you have got to take the upper hand in all situations or people, whether they're dead or alive, will walk all over you. And that I should gut this house and make it my own or I. Will. Go. Insane. And. Take. You. With. Me!

Fun fact: Catherine is a mirror person.

I still prefer to live in a universe where Dame Catherine has been properly recognized.

Her Order of Canada appointment mentioned Home Alone over her roles in Waiting for Guffman, A Mighty Wind, and Best in Show. I think that's a goddamned crime.

"It's just my knee. I'm fine."

She's awesome, and this was an enjoyable interview. Thanks for posting it.

She's just always good in everything. But I do love her best in Best In Show.

The O'Haras were two-thirds of the Lemon Twins.
