Short story "Fountane Of" on Curious Fictions Author-described "short, sharp, and not very sweet. Plus, time-traveling janitor!"
It does read like Frederic Brown. Reading through the second time I realized who "Jackie K." had to be.

Haha, nice! I love that the meaning of the title snaps into focus once you’ve finished the story. I’ll be looking for more of Durgin’s stories.
