Josh Futturman is Future Man. A janitor by day/world-ranked gamer by night is tasked with preventing the extinction of humanity after mysterious visitors from the future proclaim him the key to defeating the imminent super-race invasion.
Sound familiar? It’s supposed to.
Future Man is a science fiction spoof/tribute series produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, now renewed for a third and final season on Hulu. Starring Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson, the cast includes Rogen as..., well, you’ll have to see it for yourself. Same for Haley Joel Osment.

The first season is pretty much non-stop retro-future extreme violence and penis gags... very well done if you like that kind of thing. The second season is very different tonally, and focuses more on story... it takes more effort to get into it, IMO. Both seasons are very good, though.

Yeah this was a surprise hit for me a couple months ago, i binged season 1+2.
I can't imagine where they'll take this concept for a 3rd season, but I AM HERE FOR IT!

Also, I liked how Wolf was the most one dimensional character at the start, but by the end of S2 (even S1 i guess) he is probably the most interesting character with the most development of any other in the show.

Wolf is the best character in this show, period. Don’t let the early episodes convince you otherwise.

They carpet-bombed my neighborhood with ads for it — bus stops, billboards, etc. But it looked horrible. They did such a great job aping the gravel-voiced scifi action messiah bullshit that I didn't know it was actually a comedy until Hulu caught me out of the room and started playing it after something else had ended. It was great, I got hooked, and I've been evangelizing it to whomever would listen ever since.

I'd argue that the second season focuses almost zero on story, and almost entirely on character. It could have used a better balance of coherent narrative and a more concrete sense of purpose for more of the season. But both Wolf and Tiger get pretty great character arcs, even if Futterman is kinda an afterthought on his eponymous show for most of the second season.

While it's not highly discussed, several of us love the show in FanFare. We're also voracious media consumers, so if there's a new show you like, chances are we might have discussions of it there and you just need to search for it.

It's weird how there's so much TV going on right now, I literally can't keep track of it. I feel like if this were released 5 years ago, I wouldn't have been able to avoid it if I tried. Nowadays, this is the first time I'd even heard of it.
