“I made a PC out of pasta and it WORKED!” [YouTube] “Steve Jobs, Dennis Ritchie, Bill Gates—all are visionaries that have shaped modern computing technology. With that in mind, YouTuber Laplanet Arts decided to take computing somewhere that it’s never been before—inside of a lasagna. Micah Laplante, whose YouTube channel Laplanet Arts has 315 subscribers, mostly uploads product reviews and image-retouching tutorials. But after his wife made an off-handed joke about a PC made of pasta, he decided that he could actually make that ridiculous idea a reality.” [via: Motherboard]

Aw, all the logic is boring electronics. I was hoping there'd be pasta-based mechanical logic.

Not impressed. The operating system is basically just a bunch of spaghetti code.

While amusing, I can't help but think of how insanely easy this would've been to do with a Raspberry Pi wrapped in lasagna noodles. Although then it couldn't have played Rocket League, so shrug.

It's not really a PC made of pasta until you can make a logic circuit out of spaghetti sauce and rigatoni. This is just a PC set inside pasta.

I had a plastic toy, cough pre-internet, that could do basic computer logic up to a half-adder, thought this would be a project like that, but no, youtube has reduced the population to idiocracy.

This is the dumbest thing I've seen today, and I just came home from an auto body shop running their own local Exchange server in 2019.

pasta-based mechanical logic.
Yeah. I’m far more interested in a few clumsy half adders or a primitive adding machine made of spaghetti than a functional PC encased in/secured to dried wheat paste rather than plastic.

It’s not for lack or resources: a casual google reveals dozens of good resources and writings on rod logic.

I mean I can see why LEGO is what people are using for that kind of project, but still.

Really missed an opportunity there, not making a keyboard with alphabet pasta.

Don't worry, the puns in this thread will beat that record. Just give it another 10 minutes... or zo

No need. Just melt that cheese and they’ll have a gooey.

I'll never get tired of these kinds of things because they take a fair bit of ingenuity to complete and I appreciate that kind of creative tinkering when it comes to building a PC. Some builds are obviously better than others, but yeah, I'm still amused.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with making a PC case out of pasta, or making a YouTube video about it. Two decades have passed since the late 1990s, but I still find quirky PC cases fun. But that doesn't change the fact that the clickbaity title is annoying as hell.
