You know, Stewart and Caterina got married, Chuck and Denise are getting married, the matrimonial list goes on. While I wish ratbastard and all bloggers who get married nothing but the best possible snogs, I don't see why this warrants a MeFi thread. Should we have a MeFi thread for every blogger who gets married? That would seem to me to be a lot of FPPs. And for those who didn't get their own threads, there would be some people citing an exclusionary protocol. Someone please nix this thread. posted by ed at 9:24 AM on July 7, 2002
Aww...
And we even got to meet PapaBlue.
[ed, please use MetaTalk for it's intended purpose, instead of posted by NortonDC at 9:28 AM on July 7, 2002

Woo! The Ratbastard is a smart fella, and got himself a smart girl. This all makes me happier than it should. Yay! (somebody like to the movie file where they fight like cats!) posted by thirteen at 9:35 AM on July 7, 2002

Hey, I married Michele and nobody linked me for it.
Oh, wait, I don't have a blog and that was seventeen years ago.
Phooey, far more dubious FPPs have blossomed into 100+ post theads full of garbage. Why not have something nice and lighthearted and enjoyable for a change?
That said, congratulations to Michelle and, er, Rat. (What is his name? I cannot in good conscience call the man by his nom de net.) May this just be the beginning of many years of happiness and harmony. posted by Dreama at 11:35 AM on July 7, 2002
Whoo! Congrats gang. :) Here's a toast to long years, much happiness and a harmonious melding of words, thoughts and ideas! Yay! :)
And Ed, come on, we're supposed to be a community...why wouldn't this be a front page post if two of our members are taking such a huge step? I think it's fine as an FPP. posted by dejah420 at 12:27 PM on July 7, 2002
Did these people meet each other on MeFi? posted by bingo at 1:12 PM on July 7, 2002
Can we announce divorces too? posted by Dagobert at 2:00 PM on July 7, 2002
ratbastard's name is don. you should check out his post on the engagement:
it's a sweet story with what i would consider to be a great omen if i were getting engaged. posted by centrs at 2:14 PM on July 7, 2002
Future FPPs:
Ed remarks candidly about incest, gets gunned down by community. Pundits question why tar and feather was not used.
Jason Kottke belittled by Matt Haughey in strange case of psychosis. Lacking any Kottke press appearance or personal decision, community mourns, turns to Cory for new linkage. MeFi becomes mirror for Boing Boing.
Instapundit takes over Metafilter, turns front page into littering ground for warblog headlines.
ed, no one said we weren't a schizophrenic community. posted by mr_crash_davis at 2:56 PM on July 7, 2002
