Unseen Worlds is a record label releasing quality editions of unheralded and revolutionary, yet accessible, avant garde music. For a convenient introduction, Spencer Doran (Visible Cloaks) put together a sixty minute survey of the Unseen Worlds label catalog, as A Young Person's Guide to Unseen Worlds, free to stream on Bandcamp, or download at at a price of your choice. posted by filthy light thief (3 comments total) 45 users marked this as a favorite

Please don't be daunted by the "avant garde" label -- the music ranges from minimal electronics to beautiful piano pieces, instrumental and vocal. Really pleasant, in a variety of ways, IMO.

And a note -- if you can't easily check the links beforehand, the artist links above go to a variety of sources, though Wikipedia is most common, but there are also bios on personal artist pages, and other sources, though nothing should be paywalled or available for limited views or not in private mode, like some news sites.

Cool post, I'm a big Visible Cloaks fan. Reassemblage was on constant rotation for me a couple years ago. The Laurie Spiegel album Expanding Universe is another one that I've been visiting from time to time recently.

Another act on Visible Cloak's label RVNG Intl. that I really like is Kate NV. I'm looking forward to her next output.
