Corporate Crook: Nitwit scion turns avenger In sum: Bush talks big about corporate crooks. He is one.

I'm playing devil's advocate here, but I love how everyone trumpets that Bush hasn't done anything about Enron without any knowledge of the hurdles involved in bringing a case of that size to justice. Hold tight everyone. Also, is anyone else tired of the hackneyed "shrub" and "dubya" references? Can't we just call him shitweasel and be done with it?

Shitweasel?

Sure, consider it done.

Good point. Do you know any resources on this you could link to?

Let's just call him Bush or President Bush and let his words and deeds speak for themselves.

corporate crook, political crook, kin of crook, it's all hypocracy and he should keep his trap shut. let C. Rice wag the finger, if thats what the administration thinks needs done.

In 1998, Waste Management Inc. "issued the largest corporate restatement before Enron." It wasn't until 2001 when the SEC levied a fine against, unfortunately, just Arthur Anderson.

Thanks for the link, machaus, I'd forgotten about that (there are so many to keep track of these days.)

There apparently is no way to link it, but C-Span's archive of Dubya's "News Conference on Corporate Responsibilty" is priceless. (You have to find it on the page yourself 7-08-02).

For those of you who have already seen it in full or decide to watch it via the link, THAT IS YOUR PRESIDENT!!!!

WTF????

He's not even a sharp liar. He's not even fucking coherent. In another world, a man of this intellectual caliber wouldn't even have a word in print spent on him other than progressives feeling sorry for him in a case study. Oh, the books we'll read about this George W. Bush someday. The issues he must have. Imagine how uncomfortable it is to be that man.

What an ill conceived plan it was to bolster W as the savior for the right's last hurrah. What is this administation going to do to get those who do vote conservative, but who also have percolating intellects to concurrently vote for this political anomaly? Aside from the christian right that would gladly sell non-christian lives for their secondcoming-hungry souls to anyone who promises to make it so, who else could possibly ever vote for this guy?

I dunno. Maybe I'm just idealistic. But I'd be worried if I were a true believing capitalistic christian or hard capitalist-rush-is-OK type. I'd be sick of being made to look like an idiot by these greedy, materialistic liars. But then again, maybe that's the key to being a capitalistic christian or having talent on loan from god.

Mr. President shows no signs of even thinking deeper than what fast food restaurants to avoid because . Watch the clip. I've never seen it so evident before. He impugns himself. That dubya is waaaay beyond his means. This administration is reeling.

Let's hope the lawsuits can come quicker than they can erase the laws.

I haven't seen a comment about it on MeFi yet, but who wasn't just floored by the choice in backdrop for Bush's Corporate Responsibility address to the nation?

Was that supposed to be an inside joke, printing repeatedly "Corporate Responsibilty" on tagboard? That was like so '80's or something. Who are they fooling?

Whoops

Mr. President shows no signs of even thinking deeper than what fast food restaurants to avoid because (William Jefferon Clinton might have frequented those same haunts. . .)
