Don't mistake a moment for a movement

Be Kind Rewind is a fantastic youtube channel that features educational, entertaining, and perfectly paced video essays about the history of Hollywood, the Oscars, and a celebration of Best Actress winners. For example, about the only black woman to win Best Actress: "If we read the Oscars as a symbol of what Hollywood values, then Halle Berry's singular win says a lot about how much Hollywood values women of color generally." - #OscarsSoWhite and The Legacy of Halle Berry

Some more excellent videos from the channel:

"By comparing the journeys of these three women [Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger, and Salma Hayek], we can learn a lot about Miramax and how shitty of a person Harvey Weinstein was." - Nicole Kidman and the Weinstein Nominees | 2003

"Instead, Hancock canonizes a singular white family and deplatforms the supportive black community that Oher did have. That decision empowered Sandra Bullock with ample opportunities to demonstrate wit, vulnerability, self-confidence, and kindness in the process. To be the spitfire the critics noticed." - Sandra Bullock and The Blind Side's White Savior Problem

"This was like a record scratch moment in pop culture. People were like 'Vivien who?'" - Casting Scarlett O'Hara & Vivien Leigh's Oscar

Yes I love it. I suggested it to someone who likes the podcast You Must Remember This, also about Old Hollywood.

Count me in as one of the channel's subscribers, and I've had great success recommending it to pop culture nerds who trawl for video essays.

This is one of my favorite channels, especially when I can settle in to watch a couple of the Oscars overviews in my pajamas on a Saturday morning.
