Thanks for this post. I struggle with PTSD for civilian reasons, but recognize the healing power of the forest. And I'm an army brat. The reality of war is not far away.

I wondered, is this fiction? Because it is awfully well-written for someone that isn’t a professional writer.

Well, the answer is “yes, he is a real person,” and he apparently wrote at the Anchorage Daily News before moving to Wisconsin. I hope he finds enough peace in the forest to want to write some more. Or, at least to be happy.
