Almost - but not quite - entirely unlike Wallace and Gromit

It’s like Wallace & Gromit with all the wholesomeness squeezed out.

Lenny Henry should play M in the next Bond
Richard Ayoade as Q
Idris Elba as 007
The villain should be Gary Busey doing a Boris Johnson imitation

Rarely has the term “uncanny valley” been so clearly demonstrated.

I've seen it now.

I don't know how I feel about this.

Thank you. I think.

I couldn't get past the 45 second mark. Nightmare fuel.

Mind you, I'm re-watching the US & UK Creature Comforts series right now, so that's a high standard, but... whereas that gets me off to sleep nicely, this is nightmare fuel. This is Wallace and Gromit on salvia, whip-its, and too much acid.

Dunno how I missed this at the time (well, I suppose it was Christmas). It's proper uncanny valley and I don't know why it got made without a few better gags to land, but the prosthetics, set design and general look are all great for a three-minute sketch. Of course, that near-accuracy merely adds to the weirdness of it all. Nice find!

Why
posted by xedrik at 5:26 PM on November 11, 2019

Lovely: Wallace & Gromit
Horrifying: Lenny Henry playing Wallace & Gromit
More horrifying: Wallace & Gromit Rule 34
Burn out your eyes: Lenny Henry Wallace & Gromit Rule 34

(my favourite part of the sketch is that it is played completely, utterly straightfaced, which makes it more horrifying somehow)

EXISTENZ IS PAUSED, damn it I came in here to make a Martin Clunes joke and you beat me to it.

batter_my_heart, because it's actors in costumes, filmed in realtime, and not stop motion or CGI.

I liked it. It was a sort of ugly I can live with.

That being said, I was horrified to find that there's very little Wallace and Gromit available for streaming. Is it somewhere non-obvious?

Most (all?) of it is on UK Netflix I think.

That was close to perfect, and totally horrific. They got the lighting right, the little finger drum mannerisms, the voice. The moist, human, eyes peeking out from the costumes though.

I was more disturbed by the ad it served to me. I thought it was a parody at first but I eventually realized it was real. Holy gateway-to-wingnuttery Batman. Some kind of National Enquirer or Weekly World News only for right wing conspiracy theorists. Yuck.
