I had a hard time watching him wearing a necktie around all that machinery and had to skip ahead, but was duly impressed by the working product.

Yeah, what is with the shirt and tie?

I know I am old because all I could pay attention to was his complete lack of any sort of safety gear.

Junkrat wouldn't wear safety gear.

He wouldn't wear a necktie either, though.

Yeah, what is with the shirt and tie?

It's a safety tie.

A lot of schools in the UK have dress codes that involve a shirt and tie, even public schools. So for a lot of people, a shirt and tie just becomes a part of the habit of being dressed.

Manic self-endangerment is Furze's trademark.

He does tuck the tie in when he's leaning over motorized equipment, but yeah the lack of eye protection in particular was a constant distraction.

I still sort of miss "can make a jet engine with a junkyard turbine, a rivet tool and a toilet paper holder" Colin over Mr. Has A Machine Shop In His Shed, but it's still amusing.

This was my introduction to this chap, and I'm delighted and impressed... by everything but the lack of safety glasses!

Great skills, great ideas, well produced and edited.

But he is 100% gonna get someone killed when they follow his lead, so fuck him and his channel.

I've seen him wearing safety goggles on at least some occasions, but doing it "wrong" for the camera is indeed part of his particular style, and he's pretty explicitly not a "how-to" channel (notice that he doesn't talk at all about most of what he's doing and the cuts are far too rapid for anyone to use them as a blueprint, and don't include the vast bulk of the actual work). The only time he's encouraged others to follow his lead was with his book of experiments/builds for kids, which was heavy on the safety guidelines.

This is one of the safer things he's made (spinning belt of knives being on the opposite end).

He doesn't even bother to put a safety warning on his videos. I reiterate that he's going to end up getting someone killed. People are stupid, and videos like this make stupid people do stupider things.

One of Colin Furze's earliest debut videos featured him building a rickety "Wall of Death" and then riding a shitty old underpowered scooter into it and trying to get all the way up on the wall. He crashes a lot. I mean, a whole lot.

This is also the same person that's put a massively oversized pulse jet on a bicycle and went way too fast. He's also done stuff like covered a truck in like a million giant bottle rockets or fireworks mortars and lit them all off. I think he also did a fireworks suit.

I'm surprised he has limbs left. He doesn't seem to... get injured or anything. He's like one of those skateboarders that seems to be nigh-invulnerable and even though they crashe harder than anyone they never seem to actually catch any road rash or anything.

Anyway, yeah, he's not big on safety.

I'm mainly annoyed at his music choices and wonder what world he lives in where the only music available seems to be his friends 2000s-sounding hardcore angry young man punk and emo/screamo bands.
