The first trailer for the film adaptation of Lin Manuel Miranda's first Broadway show, In the Heights, is out.
Remezcla: a "vibrant, colorful and music-filled celebration of Latinos."
NPR: the trailer "promises lavish musical numbers, grand production values and a rich emotional sweep to mirror that of the Broadway original."

On an otherwise supremely shitty day, I am taking a little spark of joy from this trailer.
I'm curious and excited to see how the story will be adapted to the realities of an immigrant-heavy latino population in the 2010's.

There isn't enough Abuela Claudia in the trailer but it looks promising and full of heart. I'm looking forward to this

I just really hope they cut the "and Donald Trump's my caddy" line, because just hearing Dolt 45's name ruins my join in the cast recording every time and I don't want that for the movie.

The In The Heights cast recording was my soundtrack of Summer 2009. When Hamilton blew up one of the first things that came to mind was, "holy shit, maybe this will pull the ITH movie out of development hell" and it did! I can't believe this is really happening! AHHHHHH!

Google translate says "dreamy"
Google is misanalizing 'sueñito' because in English the '-y' suffix can be used both for diminutives or to transform a noun or verb into an adjective, whereas the '-ito' suffix in Spanish is only for making diminutives. So apparently Google is saying "sueño = dream", "ito = y", therefore "sueñito = dreamy", which is the noun -> adjective use.
Dreamy would be 'soñado' or maybe 'soñador', btw.

I was all what the what, no Priscilla Lopez, but looking through the imdb entry, the Camila character isn't in the film at all?
(Of course the screenplay isn't the play, and I'm still seeing the movie.)

So Lin put out a call asking for people to post their reactions to the trailer, and here is a teen theater group in Dayton currently rehearsing for its own performance of In The Heights reacting themselves during one of their rehearsals.
35 years ago I would totally have been one of these kids and I have the biggest dopey grin watching them.
