I can't remember where I left my library card

The Radiohead Public Library is now open for business.

Radiohead have updated their infamously obtuse website with the Radiohead Public Library, “an online resource containing everything we have ever done... well, more or less. Videos, music, artwork, websites, merchandise, and assorted ephemera.”
There’s a ton of stuff but here’s some links to get you started:

Glastonbury 1997
Meeting People Is Easy
OKNOTOK White Cassette
Kid A blips
Hidden Kid A booklet
Bonnaroo 2006
Scotch Mist
In Rainbows From The Basement
King Of Limbs From The Basement
Ton of shirts from various eras

The content is amazing but the interface is still more than a little obtuse. I was just working on a post myself that puts all the links in searchable text; I'll post it here when it's done (just got to In Rainbows!)

the rabbit holes you can fall down here harken back to the band’s earliest websites that were these gloriously weird mazes you could get lost in clicking around for hours—that a minotaur was a recurrent motif in their artwork at one point still seems fitting

Cool! With this and the ZombocomVR a couple days back it feels like the old weird web is having a bit of a moment.

Rhaomi wins the day.

You totally could have made a post out of that stuff, btw.

This whole thing is the real hero.

Wow...just looking at all those front page images shows how much Colin Greenwood is often invisible on stage. He's literally hiding behind the drum kit most of the time.
posted by rocket88 at 8:32 AM on January 21, 2020

I don't think he's hiding, that's just where one plays the drums from. Behind the drum kit.

He plays bass.

This brings me back to my semi-annual quest for No Kid No Computer, apparently a bootleg recording of a live show. Maybe it was in Japan? I listened to these versions on repeat for years in my car. Have never found it streaming, though.

At one point, Thom addresses the crowd, saying, "Good job to Johnny -- he's sick as a parrot."

this site is incredible but i just want to shoutout citizeninsane.eu, which until now is what i thought of as the "radiohead library". extremely comprehensive site where you can track the development of a song from it's first ever performance to its final version, plus quotes from interviews about the song, lyric fragments used in visual collages album artwork, and a history of every time it's been played live. very cool and nerdy fansite you can lose a lot of time to, hopefully if they continue expanding the "official" library someday they can bring this guy on as their official archivist
