Half-Life 1, in VR, except it's absurdist improv comedy. Act I, part 1 in a continuing series.

I love it, but -- how does this exist, exactly?

I have no idea the details, but I'm assuming some weird stew of VR support for the Half-Life engine and Garry's Mod-style manipulation tools, in the hands of four or five goofballs spawning stuff/characters as needed; live improv on a stream cut down and subtitled afterward.

Very similar to the (ongoing after well over a decade! Up to Half Life 2 now!) Freemen's Mind series, but the addition of more than one performer adds a lot.

My favorite so far is Tommy, who seems to have a rich interior life. He likes to read the billboards in the breakroom and he drinks soda for lunch.

The scientist voices are amazing. So similar to the originals it's spooky.

So lemme get this straight, cause I'm tired and am seeing this out of context—the NPC's are straight-up AI? Or is this an improv comedy group?

If the former, I was laughing out loud, cause I am always fascinated by how AI's try to interpret the world.

Whereas if this were improv, it would be the most random dreamlike non-sequitur troupe. Not funny, more like performance art. But why is it that watching this as if all the NPC's are AI, it's hilarious. Why?

AI's aren't good at comedy... at least not intentionally. Someday an AI will write the world's funniest joke by accident.
