What is the point of this post? To rip on Jane Pauley? To argue against applying the word 'hero' to the passengers of Flight 93? And who are 'these guys' that you want to learn something? I think you need to make things a bit more coherent before making a front page post.

On the assumption that there's something to discuss here, I have to say that despite my cynicism at the overblown flagwaving I've seen since September 11 - and despite my wariness at the government/media mythologizing what happened that day, the passengers of Flight 93 do rise to the level of "hero" for me.

And that's true whether or not they crashed the plane or whether the hijackers crashed the plane or whether the government did in fact shoot it down. The fact is that they tried, at great personal risk, and that's enough for me.

You should probably be informed that {savg*pencl} doesn't think anything happened on September 11th last year, thus probably doesn't see the need for labeling the Flight 93 passengers "heroes".

We all saw it coming, after all.

You should also be aware that {savg*pncl} needs a break from the endless 9/11 posts.
