Homer Simpson is Canadian, says Groening.
In Montreal for a performance of "The Simpsons", Matt Groening noted his dad was born in Canada and Homer is named for him so... "That would make Homer Simpson a Canadian".
He goes on to say the show will be on for at least another 14 years.
That should give us something to talk abiot.

Now I can't watch the Simpsons anymore. Darn me and my foolishy blind nationalism. Can we just assume that Homer is a naturalized American since he is an American Stereotype.

Speaking of, the Simpsons second season DVDs come out tomorrow. If they stay on for 14 years more, does that mean I'll eventually have to own 25 or so collections of DVDs?

mathowie, by then all Simpsons episodes will be digitally stored in an optical-storage device the size of a sugar cube, and you'll be able to play them back directly onto your retinas using the mini-DIN jack in the side of your head.

Have you ever wondered (I bet you haven't) how a german accent is conveyed in the dubbed versions of the Simpsons in Deutschland?

They make it sound Swiss, duh.

And Homer was born in North Carolina!

So unless the elder Simpson was an immigrant, it looks like we've got another plot discrepancy on our hands...
