are webloggers male or female?i'm doing a poll to try and discover the gender distribution of webloggers. someone recently asked this of me, and i had no idea if anyone had gathered that info.

Looks like roughly two-thirds male (~40 votes). That's about what I would have guessed, actually. Those numbers are pretty good compared with what the net used to be ...

You know, I would've guessed an almost even 50-50 vote on that. Interesting. Now someone should poll on the various CONTENT between male and female loggers.

It's too bad the Vox Populi voting mechanism is so, uh, unscientific. Not that we can't trust our fellow webloggers to only vote once, of course. Just, uh, in the interests of science....

There may be fewer females weblogging, but 80% of the sites I visit on regular basis are run by women. I think that means i am sensitive. You chicks rock!

I'm with Brother Thirteen...the female ones (if they are "supposedly" fewer) stand out a lot more. ctrl-alt-ego's pledge to *not* not blog negatively was outright hysterical... and Ms. Champ's superlative command of the "F" word makes me weak-kneed (probably shouldn't have written this as I'm sure her & Faith may come back & read this). The female ones make for a *lot* more interesting reading.

What I would find an interesting survey would also be the, uh, "preferences" of bloggers. Besides Baylink, are there any heterosexual male bloggers? (Not trying to trigger a flame war here...I'm actually curious)

BTW...I don't count in the poll 'cause I don't blog.

I hope nobody misunderstood my asking. Tom's pretty open about it (And I of course applaud anyone's honesty)...I just noticed a lot of male blogs that just don't mention wives, girfriends, hookers...

It, of course, dawned on me after I posted that there may be a lot of computer geeks (I keep forgetting you guys) that "just ain't gettin' any" :0) This is not meant to be a diss on brother Ezrael (Haven't seen your site yet...though you may want to take the next few minutes to post your latest conquest before I get there!)

I have a curiosity too. I have a theory that there are more "cat people" than "dog people" blogging. Cat people generally seem to be more intellectual and sensitive than dog people. Maybe your pet preference is tied to your content too... It's late, I'm brain fried. Carry on...

I've always noticed a preponderance of cat people on the internet in general (i.e., it's not about blogs :>) My decidedly non-scientific answer is this: people who stay inside and play on the net like low-maintenance, independent pets, whereas big lumberjack guys in hiking boots are out climbing mountains with their German shepherds, or whatever.

You can't take your cat hiking with you, and you can't expect your dog to take care of his own calls of nature on hour 9 of your hot hot ICQ chat with your long-distance crush.

I love dogs, so I guess I'm not as intellectual or sensitive as some of you *elbowing and nudging dink* :) Oh, and let's not forget dumb, and mean. Let's hear it for dumb, mean, stupid, insensitive dog people!!


I have noticed another phenom - there's a lot of redheaded women with websites. More surveys are needed. Must have more surveys. Cats bad, surveys good!
