Bliss. There is so much depth to their art, it makes me want to dive in and be there.

Heavy rain kicked in just as I started watching this. I concur with knapah: bliss.

Wonderful! Now, how about something similar, from the films of Yasujiro Ozu? His pillow shots, just from 'Tokyo Story', and from his later, color films.

This is only tangentially related in that it's neither Ghibli nor necessarily relaxing, but The Garden of Words has just the most lovingly rendered rain animation.

This is possibly the best video on Youtube

This saddened me too, I had watched about five minutes when I posted it.

I want to say it needs more CatBus, but really, it's perfect as is.
(slight spoiler if you haven't seen "Totoro.")

This is wonderful, and whoever did the sound effects did some beautiful work.

Anyone remember this old (so I might have first seen it in RealPlayer format) AMV of Ghibli scenes set to Loreena McKennitt's Mummers' Dance?

trig: thanks for identifying the AMV as being from Ghibli films, rather than just Miyazaki. (I'm sensitive, as Takahata directed some of my favourites).

(I'm a huge fan of Miyazaki as well, of course!)

Yes, Takahata was wonderful and his name (and movies) should definitely be better known. To me Ghibli means Miyazaki, Takahata, and Joe Hisaishi (which probably also leaves out who knows how many people who've stayed out of the limelight).

Okay, that AMV even included "Future Boy Conan." I'm impressed.

Naturally, the OP's loop features some of the over-water trolley scene from "Spirited Away." You might find this Fandom Musings analysis of the scene interesting.
