"No More Jockeys is a three-pints-and-a-packet-of-crisps pub game"

No More Jockeys. Nine months, 29 episodes and nearly 1.5 million views later, No More Jockeys (S1E1, trailer) has become a lockdown phenomenon. There are rules. There are three comedians you may know from Taskmaster (Fanfare). And there is a lot of drinking.

The three players are @alexhorne, @timkeyperson & @watsoncomedian

This is very relevant to my interests! I’m a little disappointed in YouTube that it couldn't figure that out for itself.

This is extremely delightful and I am also unsure how the YouTube algorithm never got around to showing this to me.

I think the S1E1 link is missing a character: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xIulxG7_k8

I love the feeling of just sitting in on their personal nonsense.

Thanks, jessamyn! Just watched the first episode. Had not heard of it before. Yay!

I love Tim Key from Mid Morning Matters, i will check this out! The game itself does sound like a perfect idle zoom + beer diversion, too. I am assuming unreasonably broad categories like "no more humans" are disallowed, but even broad categorical swipes like "no more adults" or "no more residents of the western hemisphere" seem like they would whittle at least my working set of candidates down to dangerous levels a little quickly...

Yeah they talk in one of the articles about how No More Women (or Men, or other super broad categories) is against the rules but how an early version of the game was called No More Women. I did not know about Tim Key before this and between this and the Taskmaster... he's delightful!

For those that have not discovered the rich vein that is 8 of our 10 cats does countdown, you'll find a lot of the same crowd over there. (8 out of 10 cats too, but who doesn't love a good game of countdown?)

I watched the guys, then started up a game over text with a pretty sharp theater-type friend, and I thought I’d be cute with “Geena Davis, no more humans” just to have a laugh and get that rule established, but he came back quick with “Ted Cruz, no more sub-humans.” We’re off to a grand start!

"Time is ticking down..." I love how they're a bit short on time as the time is very clearly on zero and it just keeps remaining on zero.

I also think the dual version of this game would be fun. I call it More Alan Rickman.

Player 1) Name a category, then a person NOT in that category.

Player 2) Name a category containing all people named so far, then a person not in the newly-named category.

Etc.

I think the one thing that would fix this game would be a back-challenge: if you can't think of something, challenge the person before you to name at least one individual who fits all the remaining constraints. If they can’t do it, they take the loss for having eliminated too many possibilities.

How can anyone possibly remember all the categories?

How can anyone possibly remember all the categories?

That's part of a good pub game.
