I thought Brendan Fraser was good in "Gods and Monsters." He is. He is also quite good in a film called The Passion of Darkly Noon, quite an odd film (also with the aforementioned Ashley Judd, but both are quite interesting to watch in this. Viggo Mortensen (aka Aragorn) also stars Hoffman, Redford, DeNiro, Pacino, etc. Hate 'em all. Hoffman has to be seen in Rain Man and Tootsie. As for Redford, All The Presidents Men and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid have to be viewed. I guess it's up to personal perference if you like those two or not. But as for Pacino and DeNiro, arguably two of the finest actors of the latter half of 20th centry cinema - Pacino in Godfather, Godfather II, not to mention some of his other work, and DeNiro for Godfather II and Taxi Driver, as well as the Deerhunter...how you can find something to dislike about their work is amazing. Just my humble opinion. And my most hated actors are....Seann William Scott (aka Stifler in American Pie) and his "Dude Where's My Car" cohort Ashton Kuchner win it every time.

sgt.serenity, nice this-and-that set-up, so... must see: Kenneth Branagh (yes, sometimes over the top, but dedicated to the details) Sean Bean (pre- and post-Boromir; he knows the bad-guy roles are the juiciest) must flee: Danny DeVito (both nasty and mean, and about as subtle as a bed of nails folded up with the occupant inside) Kevin Costner (one can never name him too often in this context -- one-note actor, and not even on key; special flip-off to him and his director in "Robin Hood" for letting the English accent fade over the course of the movie like early morning mist) Julia Roberts (big eyes don't mean good acting) ...and everybody who thinks yelling = good acting. Steven Guttenberg: with the exception of 'the Boys from Brazil' I've won several bets by citing this as a movie featuring Mr. Guttenberg and Laurence Olivier. despite his great line in ALIENS Mr. Paxton has at least one other good line in Aliens: "Express elevator to hell...goin' down!"

Definitely Mel Gibson. Gives me no pleasure to see a big homophobe playing romantic leads. Adam Sandler is too easy a pick. Julia Roberts and John Travolta are just fine at times...but neither has any idea how to choose a script that's right for them. (Hint: roles that don't require you to take yourself seriously are good.)

These are on my avoid list- but not at all costs. Most of them have been in good movies, too... Rosie Perez Jennifer Tilly Melanie Griffith Dan Hedeya I don't really have a "must-see" list. There are a lot of actors I really like, but everybody makes obvious stinkers from time to time. Except Yahoo Serious- every frame with him is a comic gem.

If were talking shear hatred vs. actors that have been entertaining on one or two occasions: Kevin Costner (pompous bastard old fart - still trying to play badass parts and failing miserably) Julia Roberts (is a superstar while talented actresses like Carrie-Anne Moss are ignored) Parker Posey (always manages to get on my nerves) Adam Sandler (making the same crap movie for almost a decade) Russell Crowe (only been in one good movie and couldn't act in that one) Andie McDowell (ironic that she's from the South but can't do a credible Southern accent) Drew Barrymore (Yes Drew, I've seen your breasts many times. Enough already!) Leonardo DiCaprio (Two words. Growing Pains. Some people think he can act. They are wrong.) Keanu Reaves (Capable of two emotions. Duh? and NOOOOOOOOOO!) John Goodman- I seriously hate this guy. (please do not bring up "but he was great in the Big Lebowski". I hate that movie too) Robin Williams- Easy pick but that just shows my level of disgust. Drew Barrymore- Believe it or not Drew, the whole world doesn't love your happy-go-lucky character you play in every role. And the top (er, bottom) of my list- Vince Vaughn. Not a lot of movies under his belt, but he made my life unbearable for three two hour spans. Swingers- If he said "money" one more time I was going to throw my tv out the window. Made- worst movie ever "made" (lame pun). The Cell- I cannot believe anyone takes this guy seriously.
