I adore Reggie Watts. He's got that combo of extreme intelligence, independence of thought, and playfulness that makes it seem like he resides in another, better dimension than the rest of us.

His What's in my Bag video with John Tejada is great.

I wish I didn't have to tolerate James Corden to see Reggie on tv.

I just love watching Reggie perform so much. He was briefly a hyperfocus for me like 10 years ago or something, used to watch a small set of his vids on the daily. They also included these three performances from Conan which I thought were just wonderful:

Reggie Watts Plays An R&B Song With The Basic Cable Band
Reggie Watts Standup Music Comedy
Reggie Watts Performance 11/16/10 | CONAN on TBS

BONUS:

What the hell's up with that big ass purse?

Watching the video FP made me confused. This is, of course, as to whether one shall ever so far as know oneself, entirely normal and - shall I say - expected. Now, thoroughly discombulationaailly speaking, I proceeded as to watch other linked videos, lazaruslong’s notwithstanding, my daughter caught interest and exclaimed that Reggie Watts was a fake Bob Ross.

Now, I beg you to graciously allow me to be serious.

My daughter - let’s call her Dora - is eight years old and has been living in Sweden since she was born. Her mother and I both speak fluent English - much better than the average Swede. With no conscious plan nor encouragement from us, our girl Dora taught herself English from watching YouTube videos. She was pretty much fluent in English from age six.

So even though I’ve understood by now that my daughter is a girl genius, I doubt even my wife knows who Bob Ross is. Reggie’s performance left me confused, and then Dora left me flabbergasted; I’m no longer sure what is real and what isn’t.

In short, I’m a great fan of Reggie Watts and my daughter.

This is great and all, but not really sure how it's different in content from all other TED talks,

Better soundtrack.

I'm always conflicted when news of Reggie Watts pops up, because his national success means that I can no longer stumble upon him performing in cozy Seattle venues and festivals with Maktub or Das Rut, as was possible for a brief moment of time in the early 2000's.

I saw his wonderful and weird stand-up show live about ten years ago, and I think that was the last time I saw something was so funny that I was actually concerned I was going to injure myself laughing.

His What's in my Bag video with John Tejada yt is great.

Started watching and learned that he shares my abiding love for Sarah Vaughan.

There are so many incredible Reggie videos. One I just watched was Nobody Needs a Whole Croissant which included the following riff:

Listen
Chocolate Eclairs
Clairs like a chocolate
Chocolate like Clair
My friend Clair
She likes chocolate
She's the e-Clair
She likes to be online
What the fuck
She loose her mind
We be be Googling
Googling googlie-googlie Googling
Googlin Googling like a hooligan
A google hooligan
A googlie hooligan
Always up to troubling...

What an insane genius!

I think that is my favorite 9ish minutes of performance ever. Like doing that as a TED talk is perfect art.

Still can't believe he was the casting for US Taskmaster

Holy crap the Internet Archive has recordings of those shows, including songs that aren't on any albums. If you want to know what Reggie Watts sounded like before his one-man music comedy act, check this stuff out. Memories!

delegeferenda, my kid did the same thing! The Bob Ross memes must be strong among the youth these days.

And for those who watched Scrubs but are unfamiliar with Reggie's band Maktub, they did the song "You Can't Hide" that is featured on the first Scrubs soundtrack.

I watch this Ted talk at least once a year - it is gleefully deranged.

I also can't pass up sharing the glory that is "Fuck Shit Stack."

Few days later and I’m still loving the chance to rediscover Reggie. Thanks, Ahmad Khani.
