Surely, others have..
There is the occasionally amusing Found Magazine and the often bizarre We made out in a tree and this old guy sat and watched us-dot-com.

Aaaak! These play into the deplorably guilty pleasure of mine; looking at other peoples photographs. Is that wrong? Whether it is or not, its made a lot of grandmas happy...

Oh my. This one is just too wonderful. More at Object Not Found. I especially like the idea behind ONF's gallery two: a collection of photos found in old books by a bookstore owner.

not really that stirring.

And what do you mean by 'iteration'? I think you're using it wrong?

I found this to be a great link, but something about it makes me profoundly sad. It also reminds me of one of my favorite R.E.M. songs.

This reminds me of a great use of old found photographs by a local company, making the funniest greeting cards ever. This is a good one.

While not as prettily designed as the other sites, Lost Something? has more mundane items to gawk at. I find it fascinating that someone would pick up an old baby pacifier (or dummies, as they're apparently called in the uk) or scrap of candy wrapper and carry it home and scan it. The commonness of the items at Lost Something? (like this - who hasn't had some of these under their sofa cushions?) is what charms me.

rory, you find the best things. I'd love to frame that brain pamphlet.

Wow, iconomy, those lost coins at Lost Something? show real... uh... dedication to the art. Or something.

Now I don't feel quite so nuts putting up a few found photos. For me it's their uniqueness that makes them interesting. I also enjoy trying to come up with words to set them against (not always successfully).
