The track list for We're a Happy Family -- A Tribute to the Ramones looks, uh, ...interesting. No Motorhead though, the shame. I am glad that Rob Zombie is proving that it is possible to produce a tribute album without the omnipresent Sheryl Crow.

I'm not really sure what the point of your post was. you didn't analize the tracks, just the artists covering them. Do you even like The Ramones? I personally think the Marilyn Manson and Offspring covers are rather appropriate. I'm looking forward to hearing them.

Some of them will definitely be worth a listen (Tom Waits? Whoa!). Some of them will probably be really, really bad (I'm looking at you KISS). Hopefully there will eventually be an additional album with more conventional punk albums, like what was done for the Clash (mainstream, not mainstream). I don't know how they can do a Ramones Tribute album and not put "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" by Screeching Weasel on there.

White Jazz (Nicke Hellacopter's label) recently released this, another "tribute" to the almighty Ramones. A pretty useless album with the exception of Per Gessle (of Roxette fame) who did justice to "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend". unbelievable, I know.

motorhead would certainly be missed from any tribute cover album... but i'd honestly much rather keep the tribute open to not just covers, but original songs. the groovie ghoulies 'R.A.M.O.N.E.S.' is a friggin classic.

I think it looks horrible. The one band which would have been good (Zeke), has been tainted by the vocals of Eddie Vedder. These tribute albums are usually horrible anyhow. I think the last good one I purchased was "Our Band Could Be Your Life: A Tribute To The Minutemen" or "A Means To An End" Joy Division tribute. It's 2:08pm and I need a nap.
