I liked most of the new songs in these outtakes. What continues to feel striking about inside is that there is just no hope in it at all. He does such a masterful job of enumerating and communicating all of the despair of today's world but doesn't deign to give us any hint of a way through besides "don't kill yourself". I think that's honest, and one of the things that sets this work apart from most.

That said, one of the things I liked the most about Beautiful World Where Are You? is that it managed to convey a lot of the same causes for despair as Bo Burnham while also offering a glimpse at coping, at living in this world that has already ended.
