Baseball saves itself in the bottom of the ninth Around noon eastern time US, the Major League Baseball Players Association and the thirty team owners reached a deal to avoid a strike that would have begun on Friday afternoon. The deal, which goes through 2006, avoids contraction and may satisfy fans who showed their disgust at the players last night in several games.
