Saw this in reruns in the mid-late '70s. I distinctly remember watching this around age 8 or so with my brothers. We thought this episode was just too silly. I didn't quite realize that the whole show—every episode—was supposed to be funny.

Seeing this again is just awesome. Thanks. Cesar Romero was great.

Yes, here Batman used Bat-Shark-Repellent spray. Batman would not actually jump the shark until 1997, with Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin. But seriously, I re-watched Batman and Robin with my daughter the other day, and as we were screaming with laughter, I realized this movie was really a love letter to the TV show. The villains were super campy (Poison Ivy spoke just like Mae West), the action was ridiculous (remember Batman and Robin "surfing" through the air on pieces of exploded rocket?), and there were even music stings and sound effects lifted from the show. The critics are wrong; that movie is awesome!

I hate this silly, campy Batman. I'd like the series to be more realistic in its portrayal of a billionaire who puts on a bat costume to fight criminals dressed in costumes of non-bat things.
