Environmentalists getting into the lumberjack business. Is this a sign of the apocalypse? Sensationalist headline notwithstanding, it still looks like the environmentalists are getting the ability to think reasonably.

These "irrational" environmentalists aren't thinking reasonably, they're making a last ditch effort to prevent the ravages of clear cuts. By purchasing timberlands, and selectively cutting those lands they're protecting *most* of what would otherwise be destroyed.

It's not reasonable, it's a last ditch effort to prevent the wholesale destruction of pristine forests and wildlife habitats.

It's a shame it had to come to this.
