I like how at least one forehead gets shiny fast. Life imitates an SNL cold open:

Last Week Tonight's recurring segment, And Now: The Most Patient Man on Television, has left me with a lot of sympathy for the host of this program, so I'm glad he got to be there for the one time that his guests were absolutely ruined by a calling saying nice, reasonable things.

Context? Who is the guy whose mother called in?

@eviemath, from the video description, they are brothers (one a D and one an R):
Brothers Brad and Dallas Woodhouse get an unexpected call from their mother during Washington Journal appearance.

True story: Back in my younger days I was an opera singer, and one summer I was singing in the young artist program at the Des Moines Metro Opera, an excellent summer opera festival. At one point, the program sent me and another young artist named Sarah to Ames, Iowa to be interviewed by the local public radio station as a promo for the opera festival. It was the station's midday call-in show. You can see where this is going.

The first person to call in was my mother. The second person to call in was Sarah's mother.

Interestingly, this was like 2002, so it was in the very early days of trying to listen to radio from another state on the internet. But both our mothers figured it out - mine in Baltimore and Sarah's in Louisiana.

As a mom of two boys, I relate to this so hard. "I hope they work it out here so I can have a peaceful Christmas!"

> Foil, Arms and Hogg: Every Irish Mother .

I just realized I'm an Irish mother despite never having been to Ireland.
