We are still finding new species of mammals like deer and monkeys so its possible we could find a rare species of ape that walks upright, why not.

Nessie pictures reawaken legend!

Excellent! TV shows like the X-Files have all but made these creatures cheap, redundant and humdrum. But Nessie, Bigfoot, the Chupacabra, vampires, aliens, ghosts, and various other denizens of the Great Unknown are all important archetypes of the human mind.

Without them, the Collective Unconscious is just a damned boring place to be.

I think that BBC story about Nessie would have been a lot more compelling if they had, oh, I dunno...actually shown these "new pictures" in question?

Maybe it's just me, but the photo that they ran directly beneath the headline "Nessie pictures reawaken legend," looks a lot like a Scottish castle, and not a giant creature surfacing through the murky depths.

"Mr Campbell said he had not yet seen the latest pictures to verify them. "

Heh. And that is news to print. I have photos of a unicorn running around in the tunnels of the Big Dig here in Boston...I just need to get them developed.

Oh well, perhaps I am being too curmudgeonly.

I googled around looking for them: couldn't find hide nor hair. I think the retired printer who took the snaps might be waiting for the right price. of course:

Yeah, my pictures are a little blurry...but don't think for a second those are paper-mache rats with little party hats on.

Mr Brunner provided evidence which helped prove the innocence of Lindy Chamberlain, the mother wrongly convicted of killing her baby, which she claimed had been stolen by dingoes in Australia in the 1980s.

Interesting case, really, although still not everyone is sure the dingoes actually did it. The case spawned a movie with Meryl Streep and Sam Neill (I've never seen it), a joke on Seinfeld, and the name of Oz's band ("Dingoes Ate My Baby") on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (as well as a rumour in Australia that the baby was ritually sacrificed.)

Ayer's Rock saw it all, but it's not talking.

Thank you for including a link to the picture of Nessie in your post.

Personally, I think it belongs in the comments section of fark with a 'total fark' label above it. :)

Check out the light and blurry border between the 'monster' and the surrounding lake.

P.S. I wonder if that tourist's travel health insurance plan covered the cost of doctoring that photo.

Cup--The blurry border is normal for a high contrast line in a heavily compressed jpeg (that image is only 8k). Can't really draw any conclusions from it.
