Kittens + The White Stripes = "Punk Kittens" I know it's not Friday yet, but I thought this was too good to wait.

Honest newbie question and not a slam: is it a double post when the original was only posted in comments?

(PS, I like the White Stripes but they're not punk! Oi!)

No.

It's a double post? Dangit. I did a search for that URL but it didn't turn up anything.

And I agree on the "punk" issue (hence the quotation marks around the title).

Punk? PUNK? Do those wee kittens call themselves PUNK?!

Wankers. Here's a moggy that showed a coyote who was boss. And he still looks pissed about it, too. (Right, maybe he just started out looking cranky because he was given such a stupid name. But having to wrestle a coyote obviously didn't improve his disposition much).

lo-fi garage rock? (is there any other kind?)
posted by Fabulon7 at 12:53 PM on September 10, 2002

I'd call them "Indie Rock" (although I assume they're on a major label now). Back in the olden days it might have been considered "college music" or "alternative".

This is what I consider "punk".

(On preview - garage rock works for me too.)

i personally call them "shortcut rolling stones lo-fi rock with terrible drumming" but then again i'm a curdled-mungbean asshole type.

my best guess would be "bluesy indie rock"; but really, why pass up a chance to say 'RAAAAAAAAAAWWWKK!'?

that's all that needs to be said.

(and yes, i can overlook the drumming enough to enjoy them, thanks.)

(and also yes: i realize this is the fifth or sixth time i've groundlessly criticized the drumming -- but, uh, hey, that's the thing that i do, i guess. also: c'mon, there's a long tradition of sucking in rock, but if you're gonna suck, do it with character -- i mean, carve "need a fix" into your chest or something.)

No no, This is cute. So cute it hurts. It's Real Player, though. Sorry.

Yes.

But even a week after I saw this link, I can still watch it three times in a row and laugh heartily.
