Any links to the news being reported in New York. Just got off the phone with a friend (I'm in San Diego), and there are reports that 3 explosives were found on the Brooklyn Bridge and diffused. Also, that Bush is reportedly going to be at ground zero tomorrow for 9X11s ceremonies. Can anyone instantiate these claims with links? Sorry, not trying to start a rumor-mill post, but rather surprised there are not posts on this info.

I'm not sure how "instantiate" a non-existant bit of news, but I'll give it a shot.

Of course I misspell existent in my grammar snark, nice job me.

I'll try to do this in the most gentle and civilized way possible, considering the recent backlash against corrections and adherence to the rules.

I'm sure it will be deleted, if it were true no one would care about no link in the main post. Relax Slithy yeesh.

I agree, posting this was irresponsible and is going to get a bunch of people worked up on the worst day to do that.

Just FYI: I just went up on the roof and looked at the Brooklyn Bridge through my telescope: Traffic is moving in both directions, no sign of police activity, so I think your source was inaccurate, nakedjon.

I take the flogging. One too many beers I believe, and conversating with those in New York on the phone, leads to trigger happy typing and abstraction of mefi rules. I apologize.

Apologies. I do actually have a nice telescope and I did go on the roof to check the Brooklyn Bridge, mostly because this post scared the living Bejeezus out of me. I used to be a big-time sky watcher when I lived out in the Connecticut sticks. Now, sadly, the best view I get is either a very blurry one of workers making illicit photocopies over in the Goldman-Sachs building in Lower Manhattan, or of Mrs. Rodriguez frying plantains down Roebling Street.

'instantiate'=substantiate - to provide substance to. This thread has no substance but is nonetheless interesting. Perhaps we need a once a week Seinfeld posting to clear out the desire to post about nothing...

User #4423, NakedJon, though you will probably be deleted for the linkless post, you should know that the bomb rumor is probably a reaction to the story described in this MeFi thread. Also, Bush is planning on visiting ground zero tomorrow according to a published CNN report or two. I'm sorry that I don't have a link for that one, but I get all my news here. :P
