Damn, vacapinta picked the wrong week to leave MetaFilter. My only quibble is that I would give this film a better title, something like, "El Santo y Jesu Christo Contra Los Vampiros Diabolicos."

...and the lesbians. Don't forget the lesbians! (big plot point) This movie is amazing fun. I saw it at the Atlanta Film Fest this summer. You can download the rockin' end theme song, "Everybody Gets Laid Tonight" here, and the entire score (including the swingin' Bible verse song and some of the other musical/dance numbers) can be found at the composer's site. DEFINITELY seek out this movie for wacky, low-budget, vampire-slayin' fun.

The movie felt forced in a lot of ways... like it was trying to be a "cult hit" without realizing that cult hits happen, they're not developed with that in mind. Some of the humor was on point, though, and the fight scenes were mildly amusing, but it would have been much more effective as a 45-minute short. than a full-length feature.

Run, don't walk, to the nearest film festival to see this film. It was my favorite film at the Slamdance Film Festival in January ... and that's saying a lot, since my own film was showing there as well :) I've still got the full set of promotional trading cards and soundtrack on my desk.

The bouncers of two of the clubs I frequent here in Ottawa are featured prominently in that movie (one as a mohawked priest, the other as a mad doctor). My piercer is also a lesbian vampire, I think. It's a fantastic movie.

Yep, i'm gonna have to see this one. For some reason, the trailer reminds me of Six String Samurai. And anybody else ever wonder how Peter Jackson went from Dead Alive and Bad Taste to his current project? Seems like a pretty big jump ;)

Ya, is way cool, though admittedly it's more fun for those of us from Ottawa. Still - lesbian vampires, ass-kicking Jesus and masked Mexican wrestlers a fine film do make.
