Musician on the Moon

Musician on the Moon Lucia Pamela passed away this June at the age of 98, but not without garnering several moving tributes from her fans. Ms. Pamela not only believed that she had a pink Cadillac that could fly to the moon, but released a concept album about it. She also sponsored a coloring book contest to promote a surrealistic space-age coloring book that later inspired a song by Stereolab. A true American original.

International Colouring Contest used to be my favorite Stereolab song. I guess I'll break out my copy of Into Outer Space... and try to listen to it again. Thanks for posting, jonp72.

Lucia's cool...she's no Kenneth Higney though. But as she hereself said, on the moon, the air's different up there.

Higney link courtesy of show and tell music which has lots more weird and wonerful stuff for your perusal

Thanks for the cool links to my fav-o-rite female musical loony! I wrote a little blurb about Pamela last year for Uncle John's Bathroom Reader. Judging by her singing, I'd say that she's been exposed to too much lunar vacuum.

I have the Higney record too. I also know Will at Show and Tell Music personally. Very nice guy. Don't forget to check out his ultra-rare original copy of the Shaggs, Philosophy of the World. Don't know the Shaggs? Well, that's worthy of another link by itself...
