So easy to take the piss out of, but fun nonetheless. I have a pic to add to their archives, from an amusement centre in the crazy sidestreets of Tokyo.

Phew, engrish.com has been posted to MeFi at least a half-dozen times, but never as a primary link. Still, pretty familiar material, and still very nearly offensive in its mockery of the fact that (gasp!) people who learn English as their second language don't always pronounce the words correctly or arrange them in the right order. Especially when they're using the words purely for aesthetic effect.

I can just imagine what some folks have tattooed on their ankles in Kanji, having been told it says "peace" or "trust" or something.

crazy Engrish from the Japanese.

yes, yes, actually all of us in the West who speak and write such flawless Japanese, well, we really have to make fun of these ignorant fuckers right?

do you have any material about the Japanese peculiar-shaped eyes as well? That shit's gotta be funny!

Yeah, this lowly person who thinks poor English grammar can be amusing is obviously a RACIST, the insensitive bastard!

matteo it's not mean-spirited. the world's a funny place. everyone is funny if you stare at them long enough. maybe there is an English Jaranese site in Kanji out there somewhere where they are laughing at us.
