Oooh, a debate about Levitical Law on MetaFilter. My mouth is watering. Maybe Leviticus 19:19 could be construed as a warning against cloning animals and vegetables? posted by insomnyuk at 6:52 AM on October 16, 2002
Sufficient proof for anyone, surely, that human beings are an inherently--and defiantly--irrational species. posted by rushmc at 7:50 AM on October 16, 2002
Having a large number of obsolete laws on the books increases the chance that, if the state wants to arrest you for any reason (legitimate or not), it will be able to find an excuse. posted by originalname37 at 10:03 AM on October 16, 2002
I wish just one of these stupid law pages would link to or precisely cite the original sources. I am suspicious that many of these "laws" are simply copied from previous lists and may have originally been made up for humorous effect. I also suspect that some laws may be misconstrued. Anyone have a well-researched list of obsolete laws? (No offense intended, Blake.) posted by quarantine at 5:27 PM on October 16, 2002
