Now, I'm an aggressive driver, and I used to play these highway games when I was, oh, 25 or so. And I'm amused by the brown-eyed-handsome-man twist to this story.

But people who intentionally block the passing lanes need a beating. And you can't tell me this idiot wasn't looking back at the blonde when the pickup pulled in ahead of him — which means he caused the accident.

An enlightening story. I've often wondered what could possibly be going through the minds of people who drive that way.

This guy's an ass. The freeway's no place for fucking around. Also, I'll bet either the girl recognized him from the road but mistook him for someone else or the "call me" part of the story is just an embellishment.

Whenever I drive my dad's 3/4 ton pickup truck i get all kinds of attempted highway flirting, mostly nasty middle aged men, some with not so many teeth, blowing kisses at me and making me want to puke. But in my ford taurus I am overlooked by the road pervs.

Well, I'm trying to get away from my NewsFilter instinct, so I thought I'd post something a little goofier. I happened across it and thought it was an amusing little story. Maybe it was just because I hadn't been awake long enough yet.

I doubt the "Call me" bit happened personally. It's as credible as Monday morning locker-room stories in high school or water cooler stories at work or the fact that 98% of males online are 220 pound black-belted bad-asses carrying desert eagle .50AEs. I'd say more but a pair of supermodels are fluffing me beneath my desk (they just can't get enough of my 6'8 Doc Savage, Man of Bronze phsyique)

Yes. My first year of college I took a job in a frame shop at the mall. We had a sister store on the other side of the mall that sold posters in cheap metal frames. My manager sent me to the other store to meet the owner who had shown up from out of town for inventory. As I walked through the mall I passed a beautiful woman who took my breath away. Our eyes met she smiled I smiled and (being an 18 year old kid) I looked her up and down in a how you doin' kind of way. She laughed and smirked in a better than you'll ever be, little boy kind of way and kept walking. Long story short... she was the owner and I never heard the end of it from my manager.

A guy in a Buick sees a "perky blonde" in a Mustang day after day on his drive home from work. He tries to "flirt" with her by intentionally boxing her car in on the freeway. She notices him doing this day after day and gives him the finger. One day, they see each other someplace else and she, allegedly, waves at him and flashes her phone number, but he's married so he can't call her. Eventually their cars crash into each other on the freeway so he gets "her phone number after all".

The guy is the narrator and the tone is that of a cute anecdote.

I wonder if anyone has ever filed for sexual harassment over something like this.

More like assault with a deadly weapon.

Hey, that feller is a registered MeFi user. I'm positive that I've seen that domain and goofball http port as the listed homepage in someone's profile. Only back when I first noticed it he hadn't posted anything on the site yet. It was just a "Clueology" box with no articles. And a cardboard sign that said "Call Me."

I'm just kidding about the last part.

It was in my profile. A friend owns the domain name, and I used to use it for my web tinkering. It fell into disuse, and said friend (with whom I work) asked if he could let another friend use it instead. I said sure, I wasn't using it. I forgot to take the URL out of my mefiprofi, though, which is probably where you saw it.

I was checking up to see what had transpired since I used it, and that's when I happened across the vaguely amusing tidbit that I posted.

So it's not a self link, but not a more like a seven-degrees-of-separation almost-self-link. I don't know the guy who runs the site, though, so I didn't think there'd be any harm in posting it. I should have put some kind of disclaimer in there to prevent the appearance of evil, though. :-)

In my opinion, your friendship with the owner of the clueology.com domain makes it a self-link. It's frowned upon here because it would be so easily abused; we all have friends with Web projects worth pimping.

[Off topic] The phrase "this one time at band camp" was used, I am sure, in a MeFi or MeTa thread recently, but I cannot find it. On the ARIA awards the other night, the host, Rove McManus, used it with reference to the design of the award, but I did not catch it all, as I was between channels. What made me notice it was that it is most definitely not an expression that would be normally used in Australia and I wondered if Rove had been reading MeFi. Just curious and a complete waste of time really, but I have suspected for some time that there are some in the media here who use MeFi as a source, as I have heard comments that, without referencing MeFi, sound very familiar and are made within days or on the day of the thread appearing here.
