I visited Lichtenstein in the late 80s. An absolutely beuatiful couple of hectares. Vaduz, the capital is a charming town.

I've been to Liechtenstein and I had a great time there. Yay, Liechtenstein! Yay, oissubke as well, I can't wait to find out where we're heading next! I suppose to somewhere in Africa, but I guess I just have to wait and see!

Liechtenstein is also one of the four doggedly determinedly non-EU states remaining in the EFTA free trade association (though now part of the European Economic Area, making their abstention little more than nominal). It's also interesting how Liechtenstein managed to stay out of modern Germany or Austria, even as Napoleon, the Vienna Convention, and Bismarck managed to eliminate scores of quasi-sovereign city-states throughout central Europe. Recent news has Liechtenstein losing its status as a tax haven for US citizens.
