The Mac is a typewriter. The ElectriClerk combines a 1988 Mac SE with a 1923 Underwood typewriter to produce "a fully-functional retrofitted prop computer." (Hmmm...where have I seen this before?) [via dive into mark]

Actually, starvingartist, it broke our computers.

As Zeldman would say, the ElectricClerk is backward-compatable, while none of our "bleeding-edge" systems are nearly as standards-compliant.

Built for a game of Cthulhu Lives! that has yet to be played, this piece was inspired by the retro-futuristic machines in the movie Brazil by Terry Gilliam. It was one of the most difficult and time-consuming pieces I've ever attempted. Despite the ridiculous amount of abuse I subjected it to, and despite the fact that all its components are now exposed to the air, the 1988 Macintosh SE which forms the heart of this piece still works just fine.

It may remind you of Brazil but if that thar Mac had wireframe graphics, I'd want to analyze deathstar plans with it.

Then again, maybe I'd need some multicolored glowing plastic squares to top it all off....
