In the Papers, New York 1's, pre-blog video blog, the best thing on television, is now available on-line. I am going to cancel my cable this weekend!

Sorry for the ignorance, but is this show a guy who reads bits from different newspapers on TV? (I don't live in NY and can't watch the link on this computer...)
I'm wondering because there is a guy here that looks kind of like George Carlin who does this while wearing a bathrobe every morning.

Steve: Well, I dunno about this guy, but the bathrobe man here gives a little opinion/analysis of the articles, and he compares the slants of the various papers when they report the same topics, so that's pretty cool. Still, I agree with you.
stbalbach: Watch out, you're on dangerous ground--I get yelled at whenever I disrespect the television. (Mind you, I'm usually pretty snarky about it.)

I can not speak of this NY 1, I am a humble Mid-Westerner, but I watched about 3 mins of it online through the link, and he was just reading off the headlines and showing me what the paper looked like.

Opinion, analysis, bias, and what-not are always enjoyable, so the bathrobe man sounds cool too me.

Although I have one of the cable news channels always on in the background when I am working, I find solace in the actual act of reading the paper ( and to some extend the internet news). It is peaceful, it is at my pace, and it requires at least some thought... but maybe that is me...

Pat Kiernan is his name, and he reads the top stories from the New York Times, Post, and Daily News (and sometimes Newsday) with a slightly wry affect that stops just short of sarcasm.

An old girlfriend of mine was organizing a celebrity auction once, and she had a great idea for a prize: Pat Kiernan would come to the winner's house each morning for a week and read them the top stories over breakfast. Didn't come off, though.
