Sorry for the ignorance, but is this show a guy who reads bits from different newspapers on TV? (I don't live in NY and can't watch the link on this computer...)

Steve: Well, I dunno about this guy, but the bathrobe man here gives a little opinion/analysis of the articles, and he compares the slants of the various papers when they report the same topics, so that's pretty cool. Still, I agree with you.

I can not speak of this NY 1, I am a humble Mid-Westerner, but I watched about 3 mins of it online through the link, and he was just reading off the headlines and showing me what the paper looked like.
Opinion, analysis, bias, and what-not are always enjoyable, so the bathrobe man sounds cool too me.
Although I have one of the cable news channels always on in the background when I am working, I find solace in the actual act of reading the paper ( and to some extend the internet news). Pat Kiernan is his name, and he reads the top stories from the New York Times, Post, and Daily News (and sometimes Newsday) with a slightly wry affect that stops just short of sarcasm.
An old girlfriend of mine was organizing a celebrity auction once, and she had a great idea for a prize: Pat Kiernan would come to the winner's house each morning for a week and read them the top stories over breakfast. Didn't come off, though. posted by nicwolff at 8:28 AM on October 24, 2002
