I'm wondering what the code is. I'm guessing it's a CGI script (with all the HTTP_REFERER stuff going on) in either C or Perl. There's lots of semi-colons and braces and a couple of ++'s. Does Perl use the increment operator?

I love ascii/ansi art. A while back we were talking here about that. I used to spend hours and hours trying to get ANSI escape codes to just blink, or move, or display a nice menu for a bbs. Some of the old ANSI art that got passed around BBSes (uhh.. you can count me in on that old-time BBSer poll jbeaumont) was just phenominal.

there is still a GIF2ANS utility, you can find it on almost any shareware site... that does a fair job of things. From there you can pretty do anything with it. The color values are in there...
