The Apple Switch Ads

The Apple Switch Ads have been beamed to a galaxy far, far away. The fad has caught on. We now no longer need "Star Wars: Episode 3." I know why Anakin has... switched.

Hoo boy! That was pretty cute. Also, I'd like to bring up something that this made me think about. Except, oop, that would be just about nothin'.

Or, to be a little more proactive here: is there a good existing site for indexing fun stuff like this, so that I could go there for all my one-shot flash/swf/whatever needs? Because then we could go THERE for THAT, and not post so many of these contentless posts to Metafilter.

Chill out cortex, I thought it was a funny satirization of two recent pop culture phenomena. The drawing point wasn't even the flash work, it was the idea.

[That was good.]

(Not every post needs to be divisive.)

So, does owning a non-Apple computer make me a Jedi? Am I betraying the Dark Side?

Look. I really did think it was clever. I don't think mychai is the devil. But what is there to think about here? I know Metafilter isn't a discussion site, but I was under the impression that aiming for something discussable was a Good Thing.

Besides, Apple's switch ads haven't exactly been neglected around here in the last few months. I'm not saying it's not funny. I'm just saying I don't think there's much of anything to say about the link (barring pedantic meta-post kvetching by folks who haven't had any caffeine yet) -- which is only a problem because there's also nothing but a 30-second, non-interactive, non-informational animation at the other end of the link. I wants me some meat, yar.

Dare I broach the subject of Star Wars?

Christ on a stick. I just thought it would be a nice break from the political numbness that the past, oh, SIX MONTHS has caused.

You know. Something fun? Are we back in the 80s again?

I'm sure you realize that part of the joke is that people who are Mac fans (and many who are not) call Microsoft the "Evil Empire" and "the Dark Side." It's that whole Mac vs. PC thing. Am I pointing out the obvious?

Thanks for it, mychai. I laughed, I cried, I peed, I forwarded it to some friends. Well, two out of four, anyway.

Especially when Cortex's only contribution to the links was a survey of one used car dealership's ads.

The world doesn't only consist of politics and things that make you go "hmmmm." We know everything there is to know about roses, yet it is still great to bed over and smell one.

Touche. (Though I could argue that having only posted one thing to the front page in a year and a half is a good thing. Would a stable of so-so-and-crappier posts be a better pedigree? Because I've tried really hard to avoid that sort of thing.)

I know I'm being bitchy. Fun is fun, and I may be wildly over-reacting.

In a related story, FoxTrot does Ellen Feiss today.

Heh. Still waiting for that PDF from a client with OS X whose machine keeps crashing. Beep beep beep. Uh, where's my paper?
