Breast Cast Art.(NSFW? I don't know, your call.) Modart's Keep a Breast 2002 is currently auctioning off these artistic busts to benefit The Breast Cancer Fund.

Last summer I saw a few of these on display in San Francisco, up close the pieces were actually pretty impressive, as oddly shaped canvases go.

I only recognized one artist name in the gallery, that of Ed Templeton, the skater behind Toy Machine.

Kevin, if you have enough money, maybe you can get one of the donors to make a cast of her breast, then vaginally bleed all over it. Nothing major, just maybe a smiley face between the two nipples or something.

Stan Chin, what a cool and clever idea - some of these are very fun and some are brilliant. It's a witty, relevant and attention getting way to have a fundraiser - I love it!

KevinSkomsvold, great find - Cynthia Plaster Caster is a groupie icon of the hippie days - apparently she has immortalized the post-concert exuberance of some legendary performers. Good to learn she is turning her talent to charity, haha.

This is not a fundraiser, but as long as we are talking breast art here, what the heck.

Fun stuff. But does it seem strange to anyone else that all the busts in the auction are intact? Since they're raising money for The Breast Cancer Fund, surely some of them should represent lumpectomied or mastectomied chests? I think that would be a nice "still beautiful" move.

It's an interesting way to raise money for breast cancer research. It looks like it'll catch on just like "Bras for a Cause", "Celebrity Bras for the Cause" or Arty Bras. As most campaigns are ostensibly targeted at raising funds for, and/or awareness of, breast cancer in women, many people are still not aware that all types of breast cancer seen in women can infrequently occur in men .

If you look carefully, you can see a few that seem to have either very asymetrical breast pairs or one breast which has been significantly altered via surgery. They also happen to be some of the casts which are so highly decorated that you have to study them for a while to see the differences.
