What's the deal with the Hidden Mickeys site, though? Advertising at the top. "Book mark this." "A Picture From Hidden Mickeys." "This photograph was obtained from and is copyrighted by the Hidden Mickeys website: http://www.hiddenmickeys.org/." "Click the picture below to return to the Hidden Mickeys page that brought you here..." "This picture is courtesy of Hidden Mickeys of Disney Web Site." "Back to Hidden Mickeys." It's some kind of bizarre branding based upon self-importance and self-promotion for a more-or-less "hmm" site you look at once and never have a need to visit again.

Hidden Mickeys has been around for a long, long time - I remember going through it in 1996, and other than a few ad banners, the page design is pretty much the same. (Which may explain why it looks odd to you, Mo). Kind of cool it's been running for so long. It would be great if there was a shorter guide to print out and take to the park to use to find the hidden images. That would give people something to do while waiting in the long lines. Hidden Mickeys may be the ultimate entertainment easter egg.

Alright, in response to the initial "Hidden Mickey" thing: this is just creepy. I guess you have to be into this sort of thing. Frankly I never saw the allure....but I admit it's clever. Clever and creepy. And in response to the cartoon-character-porn posted by y2karl: I question the mentality of people who find this stuff amusing. It's even creepier than above-mentioned creepiness.

Wally Wood (the artist of y2karl's link) was also one of the original Mad Magazine artists, and is ranked #6 (scroll down) on Atlas Magazine's Greatest Comic Book Artists of All Time. I'd say that's about right. Just goes to show, sometimes you need some context before you can say whether or not something that may appear to only "appeal to a prurient interest" has any "redeeming social value".
