Clearing landmines with a clickIt costs $3 to put a landmine in the ground and $1000 to pull it out. Along the same lines as The Hunger Site, head over to this site and help make war-torn areas safe again for the people living there.

Well, it's not just all about clearing the landmines. The site itself raises awareness of the issue. Sure, they only got like 300 clicks / day... That could change. What happens when they get millions of hits per day. Not only would they clear several square kilometres of mines, they'd also raise awareness of the issue that there are a lot of people out there living with landmines scattered around them.

Just the fact that Calebos posted this site on Metafilter has brought the issue to light.

Hardly just a "feel-good site".

The only way to ensure that this site is successful is to create a site that will put land mines in the ground for just under what it costs to take them out. Face it- once all of the land mines are gone I won't be able to get the latest ads for GlobalTV or ElectricLibrary. This is what it is all about. Fuck philanthropy- people want to sell stuff! Plus, how cool would it be to stick a land mine in downtown Chicago with the click of a button?
