		<description>I think one of the implicit appeals of MetaFilter is this sense that we are partaking in the construction of collective memory.  We are creating a shared memory of events as they unfold.  I think this partly explains why members post news events or obituaries.  They want to initiate some kind of social memory via the MeFi tribe.
