Art & Physics

Art from physics: it's a groovy gas.
It's transonic flight.
It's a pi-muon death cycle.

It's a dark matter detector.
It's a Super-Kamiokande with 9000 neutrino eyes.
Dream on!

The "Super-Kamiokande" in the last picture must be huge, if each eye is 50 cm across as the text states.

Talk about having a job you can't explain to elder relatives.

"See, I'm down in this cave in Japan with this huge water tank which also is a camera. It takes photos of particles we can't see or feel that otherwise just pass through us."

"I knew it, that boy ain't right."

The Super-Kamiokande is indeed gigantic - what's worse, almost exactly one year ago, it was hit with a massive disaster, where 7,000 (two thirds) of the photodetectors lining the sides of the tank exploded in a massive chain-reaction while the tank was empty. Each of those things cost about $3,000 too. Yeesh.

This reminds me of fractal art, art which is created using complex mathematical functions known as fractals. This guy even uses fractals to illustrate the King James Version of the Bible , all the way from Genesis to Revelation.

For awe and dread inspiring physics art, see the first hundred millionth of a second of a nuclear explosion. Aren't those the lyrics of a Fluke song?
