"Eat ye that which is good and let your soul delight itself in fatness." Can John Ashcroft find salvation in a recipe for chocolate brownies? Hey, every little bit helps.

The rest of the Congress Cooks! site has some other interesting tidbits, least of which is Sen. Conrad Burns' Blueberry Jello Salad and Fred Thompson's Fluffy White Frosting.

He used a mix! That's the final straw. Ashcroft - resign now!

He gets points for hacking the mix, but loses points for using a mix to begin with. Net gain: 0. Brownie mix makes about as much sense to me as cookie mix.1 Brownies are simple, folks. Why try to fix the deficiencies in a mix? Just find a recipe you like and make it. The key thing to remember about brownies is not to overcook them. They're supposed to be chewy.

1Yes, I know cookie mix exists. It can blow me.

First of all, there's nothing wrong with crunchy brownies! Thin, crunchy brownies are the best! Can't we all just be CrunChewy?

Second of all, he's missing the green ingredient. The green.

Third of all, he seems happier when he's cooking, singing, or praying. Let's give him Martha Stewart's old slot (no pun intended)—then he can dispense cooking TIPS!

The key is to carefully and with a light touch double boil the chocolate, and then for christ sakes CHILL IT DOWN afterwards! Furthermore if you can really smell chocolate coming from the oven you are OVERCOOKING THEM.

Hope this helps!
